Epiphany
Cards Distribution January 8th
EPIPHANY
CARDS will be distributed next Sunday, January 8. Epiphany
Cards are small notes printed with a message such as “Abundance,”
“Growth” or “Reconsider.” With Epiphany
cards, there is the recognition that God has more to say that we
usually are ready to hear. We put up blocks. We are resistant. So
Epiphany cards help us to break out of our resistance. You will
be invited to take one card and trust that God has a message for
you for the year 2012 through that card.
Christmas
Shoes
THANK
YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR CHRISTMAS SHOES PROJECT. This year
we provided Payless Shoe gift cards (each worth $25) for 178 children
and youth in need at the Coachman Family Center. This has been a
difficult year for many families and it is often the children who
suffer most. Thank you for brightening the Christmas for local people
in need.
Pledges
Pledges
for the church budget are being received for the upcoming year.
If you have not made a pledge, but would like to do so, there is
still time. Forms are available in the narthex or in the church
office. There are many ways to deliver your pledge: place your completed
form in the offerig plate on Sunday; send it to the church; send
an email to the church with the necessary information; or call Liz
Follen in the church office. Thank you in advance for your support!
Nursery
School Openings
Our
Nursery School has openings for next year. The class lists normally
fill up quickly. Contact the church office if you would like to
reserve a place.
Help
the People of Somalia
Help
the people of Somalia through Reformed Church World Service
(RCWS). East Africa is experiencing its worst drought in decades,
causing widespread hunger, starvation, and displacement of people
from their homes. RCWS has responded with initial aid of $13,500.
You may contribute to Greenville Church to extend our denomination's
support. All contributions are sent entirely to RCWS.

Get
Ready! Get Set! Go to Sunday school!
WE
HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY SCHOOL! Every Sunday of the year Greenville
Church offers special programming for children and youth! . Each
week, children and youth are invited to begin the worship service
with their family, come forward for the children's message, and
then go to their classes in the lower level. Parents may pick their
children up after the worship service in Hessler Hall, where refreshments
are available for all.
OUR
SUNDAY SCHOOL IS GROWING and we are looking for more teachers.
Teachers will volunteer for a four-week block of Sundays, two or
three times in the course of a year. Our curriculum is Bible based,
age appropriate, and geared to make going to Sunday School both
fun and a time of growing in personal faith. For more information,
talk to Janice Meyers or Pastor Edward.
The
Food Pantry
The
Food Pantry needs donations all year long. One of the biggest
needs is for peanut butter. Why not bring a jar of peanut butter
to church next week?
Church
Book Discussion Group
We
have a Church Book Discussion Group which meets once a month, usually
on the second Tuesday, at 7:30PM. New members are always welcome.
Come and join us!
The
Book Club will next meet on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 7:30 p.m. at the
Manse. Everyone is invited to join in the conversation and stay
for delicious refreshments! The book is People of the Book
by Geraldine Brooks.

meeting will be held on Saturday, January 14, at 9:00 a.m. The meeting
will be held in the lounge.
The
Blue Envelopes
Thank
you for the Blue Envelopes! Each year, Greenville Community
Church pays assessments to the Reformed Church in America (RCA).
Our assessments support the local, regional and worldwide programs
of the RCA. We are asked to pay $90 for each of our active church
members. Blue envelopes may be used at any time. Thank you again
to everyone who has contributed so far.
Bible
Study Series
The
Wednesday Bible study series: All are welcome. This is
an opportunity to grow in faith and increase in joy. The sessions
all begin at 8PM in the lounge when scheduled.
Bible
Study classes offer an opportunity to explore faith through the
Bible and other sources.
There
are separate studies offered throughout the year on Wednesday evenings.
Knowledge
of the Bible is not a necessity.
Helping
participants learn more about the Bible and developing their faith
is the intent of the classes.
