PHILOSOPHY
The
Playschool provides an age-appropriate, hands-on, multi-sensory
learning experience for two year old children. It is our belief
that play is the work of young children, and therefore the essential
ingredient to the child's overall development.
Since all children are unique, our curriculum is designed to accommodate
the individual interests and needs of each child. Activities are
presented in a wide variety of ways in order to capture each child's
level of development and learning styles. This approach allows children
to become actively involved in activities that excite their curiosity
while maintaining their attention. We believe children using this
method of learning enjoy greater success in mastering new skills
and learning.
Our goal then is to offer a safe, nurturing, and happy environment
where the whole child (physical, cognitive, social, and emotional)
can develop to his or her fullest potential.
SEPARATION
POLICY
Parents are invited
to stay with their child during the first week of orientation. If a parent feels
that more time is needed for the separation process to be successful they are
encouraged to stay as long as necessary Separation for "young twos" is the first
and most important step children take in making their school experience a happy
one. Therefore, our policy is to encourage each child to feel comfortable and
relaxed in their new surroundings while gradually getting to know and trust
their new friends and teachers. We feel this step is of utmost importance and
we make every effort to work very closely with parents to make this a positive
learning experience.
STAFF
A professional team
of five teachers, all holding college degrees, and three of whom are certified
teachers work with sixteen children each day. There is always a certified C.P.R.
person on staff in case of an emergency. The staff is always available for questions
or conferences throughout the school year.
