GREENVILLE COMMUNITY CHURCH RECITAL SERIES
The Greenville Community Church announces the seventh recital in its 2009-2010 Recital Series, innovative performances of great music held in the sanctuary of Greenville Community Church, located at 270 Ardsley Road, Scarsdale, New York. Dr. Corazon Bisda, the church's music and choir director, is the Artistic Director of the Recital Series.
On Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 4:30 p.m., the Recital Series will present returning artist Manami Hattori, soprano, in a recital featuring Ravel's Sheherazade as well as works by Righini, Respighi, and Clara Schumann. The second half will feature duets from Bizet's Carmen and Puccini's La Boheme. Sean Fallen, Ms. Hattori's husband, will be the guest tenor. The featured artists will be accompanied on the piano by Corazon Bisda. A versatile performer, soprano Manami Hattori has sung many concerts and recitals throughout Japan, the United States and Europe. On the operatic stage, Ms. Hattori has sung the roles of Suor Angelica, Musetta, Micaela, Cherubino, Susanna, Arabella, Rosina, Berta, Papagena, Nerillo and Lucilla and Soprano Madrigale from Manon Lescaut. Her performance can also be seen on a newly-released DVD, as Hira in The Thief of Love by Hummingbird Films. Tenor Sean Fallen, who made his European debut with Festival Lyrique en Belle Ile en Mer, has sung numerous operatic roles with New York City Opera, Fresno Grand Opera, New Jersey State Opera, Connecticut Lyric Opera, and the Athena Grand Opera. He has appeared as a soloist of the concert stage at Avery Fischer and Alice Tully Halls at Lincoln Center and at Carnegie Hall.
Corazon Bisda was born and raised in the Philippines. She received her BM in piano and composition, with honors, from Santa Isabel College; her MM of Music in piano from the Mannes College of Music and her DMA in piano from the Manhattan School of Music. She has been featured as a distinguished pianist, chamber musician, accompanist, arranger and composer.
There is no required charge for admission; however, a good will offering of $20 or any amount in support of the church's Recital Series would be gratefully accepted.
